Resource Allocation
Configure CPU, memory, and disk for machines.
Defaults
New machines are created with:

| Memory | 2 GB | 512 MB–host limit |
| Disk | 20 GB | 5 GB–256 GB |
These defaults work well for most development tasks. Adjust only when your workload needs it.
Changing Resources
Select a machine and open its settings panel. CPU and memory can be adjusted while the machine is stopped. Changes take effect on next start.
Disk size can be increased but not reduced. The filesystem inside the VM expands automatically.
Resource Sharing
Machines and containers share the host's physical resources. ArcBox does not reserve resources — allocation is an upper limit, not a guarantee.
An idle machine with 4 GB allocated consumes only the memory it actively uses, not the full 4 GB.
Monitoring
The machine detail view shows live CPU and memory usage. This helps you right-size your allocation based on actual demand.
