Updates
How ArcBox Desktop handles automatic updates.
Update Mechanism
ArcBox Desktop uses Sparkle for automatic updates. When an update is available, you see a notification in the app with release notes and a one-click install option.
Update Channels
| Channel | Description |
|---|---|
| Stable | Production-ready releases. Default for all users. |
| Beta | Early access to upcoming features. May contain rough edges. |
Switch channels in Settings → General → Update channel.
Checking Manually
Click Check for Updates in the app menu or in Settings. ArcBox checks immediately and shows the result.
Rollback
If an update introduces problems, you can reinstall a previous version:
- Download the specific version from arcbox.dev/releases
- Quit ArcBox Desktop
- Replace the app in
/Applications
Your containers, images, volumes, and machines are preserved across updates and rollbacks. Only the Desktop application binary changes.
Offline Usage
ArcBox Desktop works fully offline. Update checks fail silently when there is no internet connection. No functionality is lost.
